I'm not ...I have *no* idea how to respond to this. I'm not sure if you're kidding or not. Hopefully you are kidding and it's just a bad joke.

I guess I have to clarify:

I have nothing against Obama's background (even if you do, anon).

YES, I'll admit a Muslim-sounding candidate's name would get me a bit suspicious, but once he checked out and I felt he was a committed Christian who loves God and does his best to serve Him, why would I *not* vote for or support the fellow in his endeavours?

I am married to a fellow with a German-sounding name because (oh, guess why LOL!) his family is German. Now, if we were at WAR with Germany, and I have a German-sounding name, you'd *better* check out what I stand for before voting for me.

If I check out well, am a citizen and stand for what's right in our country, then I would submit to you that it is YOUR problem if you use my name against me at the polls by not voting for me if the other candidate isn't comparable.

It's a shame, but sometimes when we deal only with the printed word things can come across "wrong." Hopefully this clarifies things and those of you who dislike me are at least doing it for the right reasons!!Happy Elf Mom (Christine)https://www.blogger.com/profile/15047347624037697311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2212741399857110313.post-86290379075423171952008-02-06T15:10:00.000-06:002008-02-06T15:10:00.000-06:00Why wouldn't you vote for a Muslim? We have our troops over there so it's only fair.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2212741399857110313.post-7872600316378961912008-02-06T12:42:00.000-06:002008-02-06T12:42:00.000-06:00Do you mean it's bigoted that I wouldn't vote for ...Do you mean it's bigoted that I wouldn't vote for a practicing Muslim?

Grant you, he *says* he is a Christian, and if I thought he really *were* one, his Muslim-sounding name would NOT stop me from voting for him.

I would agree that he may not be a practicing Muslim. I have refuted several posts on other blogs stating outright that he's a Muslim and how he'll use the presidency for Islam. I don't think that's true; however, his stances on certain issues (such as the Born Alive act; see Daja's blog on the links to the left of my main page) are not consistent with the Christian faith.Happy Elf Mom (Christine)https://www.blogger.com/profile/15047347624037697311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2212741399857110313.post-24985478981165318742008-02-06T11:53:00.000-06:002008-02-06T11:53:00.000-06:00Saying Obama "sounds" Muslim is a bit bigoted and ...Saying Obama "sounds" Muslim is a bit bigoted and is just as bad as saying he "sounds" presidential.
