I finally was able to get out and about with the four older children on Thursday evening. G had earned $40 in chamber of commerce coupons from our school district for his attendance during summer school. We could spend the money at any chamber of commerce member. Thankfully, in addition to eye doctors and lawyers (what kid is going to spend his money there??!), the new Red Robin restaurant in town also accepted the money.
We had a great time! The service was more than excellent and the people were very friendly. The Emperor was quite curious as to, well, WHO is this Red Robin and where does he live? And how tall is he? The waitress was very patient during this interrogation and said she would go into the back room and "check his travel schedule." Sure enough, about 15 minutes later, the Red Robin mascot appeared, along with an employee with a camera! Awww.... Those younger boys were so happy to get their pictures taken, but the film did not work. So they spent a little time with the mascot while an employee RAN to go get some film at a nearby store LOL! We got pictures taken later after everyone had eaten.
Did you know that at the Red Robin you can eat as many fries as you want? They'll keep bringing them over if you ask. Of course, you pay about $50 for a simple meal with the kids but it was a lot of fun. Naturally we wouldn't have splurged that sort of amount if we didn't have the coupon.
You do know, don't you, that the younger children especially wonder when they'll come back. Today maybe? How about tomorrow? Next week is a long time away, Mom, and maybe ...
