Clubhouse Jr.

Elf and Emperor are VERY delighted when the monthly issue of Clubhouse Jr. arrives. I think I shall have to continue this subscription until J is old enough to read them. Every month, the children read the corny jokes sent in by the other readers and I get to hear a missionary story. For some reason, little boys love missionary stories. To my mind, going into unknown territory where you may not know the language so well... and facing the possibility of martyrdom... um, count me out on that one. But the boys think that's great. YEAH! Adventures with Jesus!

  1. It’s always fun to have something to anticipate. I could certainly think of worse adventure stories to love ;0) My daughter loves the American Girl stories. And I think all kids love the corny jokes - the cornier the better! :0)

  2. Oh, yes! Boys & gore! When mine did the 'church is for girls' thing & I got worried they meant 'God is for girls' I read them *God's Smuggler* & *The cross & the Switchblade*. They still want that sort of excitement. It makes me quake like a jelly.

  3. My son is the same way with his Lego magazine. Good thing it's free. Too bad it's not educational.

My son used to love Highlights and Weekly Reader. He'd check the mailbox constantly.

  6. I always see that in waiting rooms. I always think, maybe I should buy a subscription, but that's as far as it gets.
    Cheers

  9. Big Brother loved Highlights when he was in Kinder. K.C. loves tearing the pages out unfortunately.

  10. I found your blog looking for a review of the Clubhouse magazine. My kids love missionary stories too! I highly recommend Missionary Stories with the Millers by Mildred A. Martin as well as the Trailblazer books!

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
