Mom's Quiet Time.

Shh... it's time for Mom to eat lunch while you guys colour with your markers and watch Woodjie and Rose. "Mom?" I hear a little voice ask. "Woodjie got a marker away from me."

Well, that's ok. Just take it back. Thank youuuu...

"Mom? Woodjie coloured on his feet."

Well, that's ok. I'll just deal with that later.

"Mom? Woodjie also got a um, a little bit on the chair. And... the carpet."

Sigh. Ok, I'll be down in just a minute.

"And his clothes... and his neck and hands."

Okaaaaay...

"And on Rose. Her pants are kinda brown."

Anything else?

"You might want to get down here. Something kinda smells."

  2. Ummm... What is 'quiet time'? I sure don't remember getting any of that when I had 6 kids at home! Marker pens are banned in my house.
Vegemite (marmite or yeast spread) makes a real mess all over the walls/furniture/carpet too).. and don't even tell me about 'smells'... pffffft.

  6. Well...

In retrospect it's kinda funny. Not when it's the middle of your lunch, though.

Lots of things in the house are still brown, but hopefully it at least washes out of the clothes. It is the "washable" kind and came off the chair just fine.

Woodjie, though, has specially pale skin and any mark on him lasts for weeks. You should have seen how smurfy he looked for a while after he ate the Easter egg dye.

  7. I'm sorry, who is Rose?

  8. We've changed S's name on the blogs to her real middle name, Rose. When I type things like "S's," it looks so odd. So Rose is 14 months old and toddling. :]

  9. LOL!!!

My favorite time of the day is at night after I tuck the kids in. I get on my computer and start reading all the blog entries that I kept new throughout the day.

And, a couple of nights ago I was just getting settled in for my "quiet time" and Marissa yells, "MOM! You better get up here NOW!" She had done the dishes and started the dishwasher. Sometime during the day sweet David loaded it with shampoo.

I would have way rather had markered feet.

  13. Zimms, (itch, itch) this is why I don't bathe as frequently as I used to. Or I get a shower right before bed and sleep on a wet pillow. No fun.

Betty, how much would you pay for this photo of Woodjie's artwork? LOL He's going for that "hairy bear" effect, I think. It's symbolic of something and after I figure out what maybe I can sell this pic on ebay.

Or not. I heard a corn flake in the shape of Illinois sold not too long ago, and I just need to have Woodjie find his niche market. :]

  14. Some baby-sitters! That scenario sounds very familiar.

  15. Well, you can't beat the free child care. I guess. Elf and Emperor get a dollar a week each for lunch-watchings. :]

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
