Elf Responds to "I Am Autism."

Is autism alive, or is it a sickness? I have autism and I think autism is something we should not think of. Autism may be hard, but it doesn't destroy anything. You should lay your mind off autism and start on other things. Is your life on autism or is it something better? Does autism kill you? Work on something greater than autism. (Hat tip for video: Joe at Club 166)

  1. Thank you for writing this, Elf. I am surprised by your response to the video and this idea that autism is not something to think about. Maybe Mom needs to try not to think about it so much. I love you, Mr. Elfie McMelfie.

  4. I think Elf is spot on! Seriously, our culture needs a greater capacity to tolerate differences. Different is not wrong or bad; it's just different. Autism is just a dirrent way of being in the world. {And hey, I know the world doesn't make it easy but with Elf's like yours I have great hope!}

  8. What did you think of the video Mrs C? Someone else reckons it was awful... and I can't see what was so wrong with it? An email response would be good... I always forget to check back on comment boxes to questions I've asked! Too busy... age, whatever~!

    Amen...

    For those interested in what is wrong with this video, "The Autism Rights Movement and listen to the autistic adults who are begging us to accept our children rather than just love them. Acceptance is much harder... something I am way better at preaching then implementing.

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
