Ok, so I'm getting the kid his plastic plate and he asks for "poyits pawyyery." He is now insisting on using Polish pottery at every meal. The kid has maybe 50 words, but two of them are "poyits pawyyery," I guess. At least he hasn't figured out how to ask for the catalogue so he can pick his own set of dishes as some other boys have. The unhappy face, as near as I can figure, is from his back teeth bothering him. He is getting some four-year molars and tells me it hurts. I'm very grateful that he can show me where his owies are. That was one of my big fears, that he would be hurt and not be able to tell us what is bothering him. We at least can get "hurt" and a location. :)28 June 2011

ReplyDeleteI know how words can be a GREAT celebration of joy that most parents take for granted. That pottery must really mean a lot to Woodjie!Unbelievable!
May you look back on these days of few words, and say "those were the good old days...", although in reality I know they aren't. It's tough having a kid that can't communicate. But I remember when Ben couldn't. He knew a lot of words, but couldn't answer a question. To see how far he has come is unbelievable to me. I kid him sometimes that we taught him how to talk (through pictures), and now I wish we could keep him quiet at times.
I'm thinking of turning this comment into a novel...
Anyhow, YEAH FOR WOODJIE!!!!!
I love that he has such discriminating taste in dishware. Maybe some kind of interior design/antique dealing/china shop ownership is in his future?
