Biscoff!

If you haven't tried it, you need to before you die.  You find it in the grocery store near the peanut butter.  Not all stores have Biscoff spread, mind you, but many do.  Our local Wal-Mart and Price Chopper do, but not the Hy-Vee.  It runs just under $6 for a bitty jar and is imported from Belgium (la di dah).  Basically it is ground-up super-sweet Biscoff cookies.  Sunflower oil is added to make it more spreadable.  There is also a "chunky" variety in which the cookies are not fully ground.  (Get the creamy, though.  The chunky seems to be too oily and the consistency is not pallatable.)  Rose is a very finicky eater, and Biscoff is one of the few foods she will eat every time without complaining.  It is peanut-free and vegan even and is touted as "America's alternative to peanut butter."  It's way, way better than peanut butter, though.

  1. Ground up cookies as a sandwich spread?
I don't like the sound of that at all.
I've never seen it down here and probably wouldn't try it anyway. No matter how sweet and creamy.

    1. Yes! It's cookies in a jar! Very bad for you, unless you are a finicky preschooler who could use the calories. :)

  2. We have this, bought it from the cheese man from Holland that comes to our Bazaar. We don't eat it often, but it's a nice treat from time to time. We actually have the chunky, it's what my kids all preferred, ours isn't oily though. Good to know that when we move back to the states we might be able to find it. I will say, we only paid about $3.00 for our jar though and it's an aprox. 24 oz jar.

  4. Really? I have heard about this all over the place, but ground up cookies sounds so...weird. I have seen it at World Market. Hmmm. Maybe I'll give it a try.

  5. I agree with Deb, ground up cookies and oil? Sounds strange to me...but I LOVE peanut butter....so maybe I'll try it. I don't remember seeing it in the store, but am heading to Wegman's later in the week and they sell everything except for exotic pets. :P

    1. It's really good for you, too. If you are underweight. :)

  6. I think it is exactly the same likely. Biscoff is from Belgium and cookies are called "biscuits" in Europe. So that's a Biscoff knockoff right there. :)

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
