I'm not usually one for devotionals. Often they're full of absolutely irrelevant and hokey stories or they encourage you to "praise God" after throwing a verse or two at you. Thanks, no!
So I was very glad to see Lee Strobel and Mark Mittelberg come out with Today's Moment of Truth. This is not the dopey ladies' Bible study you did in church, folks. It's a series of short, meaningful and intelligent insights that won't take up the whole day to read and study.
The "intelligent" bit is important to me. While I don't want to get bogged down controversies that people made up (Is Pokemon Go really ok?), I do want to find some Bible-related thought that speaks to today's world.
This is it, folks! It's a nice, thick book but a smaller one and easy to carry or tuck into a bag. Nice printing and binding, good and sturdy pages. It's something I'd be proud to present as a gift to a new Christian or someone who is struggling with a few of the basics.

I do like books that fit into handbags or big pockets on winter coats.
