Hello!

I've been neglecting my blog for a bit and doing about 50 different things (none of them too very well, but I'm busy nonetheless).  I've finally found something for Rose's hair when she skates.  She's supposed to have her hair up but she has a bunch of sensory issues and she sure doesn't like ponytails or buns.  But this handy item from the Hair Jeweler *really* works and I hear no complaints from the kid about it.  Eventually (after a few hours) it does fall out or start to bother her scalp a little, but this is the best solution going by about a million miles.  I actually bought the Mommy-Daughter set and she has more hair so she's the mommy.

Here's one of the smaller sizes.  I have to fluff up my hair a bit and use a ponytail to keep the pins in.

I've also lengthened this skating dress by cutting off the sleeves and adding a panel up under the skirt where it won't be noticed.  Rose and Woodjie have outgrown the $200 skating outfits I bought new in September.  Oh well.  Doing it cheaper by making it all myself this time.

Something interesting happened to D today.  He was travelling on the highway and minding his own business when some guy on a yellow ATV nearly hit him head-on going the wrong way.  He said it was quite the chase and maybe it would be in the news?

Yep.  But D never noticed the guy was naked.  I guess when you are in fear for your life because of oncoming traffic and whatnot you don't bother to look at what sort of pants the other driver is wearing.  Or not wearing.

  1. Naked crazy drivers? Yikes!
Rose's hair ornament is very pretty. Kudos on making your own skating outfits.

    1. Thanks, River! I'm very thankful my husband is still alive - it was a mess.

  2. Wow, I saw the atv man on the news. I am so glad your husband is ok.

Great job on the skating outfit, I wish I knew how to sew. Basically I can hem a skirt or pants and that's about it.

    1. That's about my skill level as well. I wash the fabric, cut out the pattern and then follow the directions. SOUNDS easy until you sit to try to do it. Most of my mess-ups are from not fully "getting" the directions. The second time around should be a snap (relatively).

  4. Thank God he is in the blessings of God and completely fine D!

when my hubby or kids go out driving i keep praying for them because people are so ignorant of rules and don't care for others life they just hit and run .

i liked the idea of making your beautiful dress long by adding sleeves's cut pieces ,i did it few times when was needed and it worked well.

i keep my hair up just like you did your daughter's as in hot weather this seems little relief to sweltering neck

    1. And it looks pretty when it's up that way.

You're right to always pray for safety - you never know when these things could happen.

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
