When You Clean...

...make sure that it makes a real difference. There is just NO POINT cleaning things when they've just been done a week ago. Or a month ago. Make people really sit up and notice the change in the home because of your efforts. Then they'll appreciate you. Well, that's what I tell myself, anyway. I also think that a scented candle in the bathroom brings a welcome change from the everyday smells one might encounter in this room.

  2. Oh, goodness I've seen much worse! I was looking at triplexes for sale in Philly the other month and the realtor and I accidentally walked in on a tenant smoking crack cocaine. In the tub. Next to a toilet in far worse shape than this. The realtor wisely stopped the tour lest we find a meth lab in the master bedroom.

  3. I saw the picture before I saw your comment on my blog. this just makes me want to puke everytime I see it.

I just can't believe that people are really OK living like this.

  6. I have to say this is one of the worst toilets I've ever seen, except for one photo I took myself in a public restroom in Egypt nearly twenty years ago....where did you get this photo?

  7. OK, D ratted me out! I'm continually reposting this picture so everyone is sure to see it...

It's a photo of the bathroom of a house D was looking at. Sadly, there were evidently children living there before the eviction notice was served. Little handprints on the walls and childrens' toys in the debris.

If you want to live in filth like this, that's one thing, but the poor kids! Actually, this bathroom photo is just the tip of the old iceberg. You know, dirty toilet, that can be last on your cleaning list (though this pic is rather extreme!) but the KITCHEN.

Lisa, I'll have to repost the kitchen so you can HORK some more LOL!

Geri, thanks for stopping by!! You could say, "Glad that's not really your toilet" maybe...?

Widdle Shamrock, I have a "thing" about the seat, but not so much the toilet. Well, ok, if mine were this bad we'd just pitch the toilet and start fresh. :]

Miss A, I'm guessing you avoided the whole neighbourhood after that in your purchasing adventure?? (wow)

Zimms, I'd be "ok" living like that for a couple weeks if I knew a contractor were coming over for EXTREME MAKEOVER. This is a house that deserved one. Very old and beautiful but abused.

Ok, maybe I'd just rather live in my car and squat over a hole for a couple weeks if the weather's nice. The toilet really is something. But really, kitchen is worse b/c you're eating that...

    Maybe enough said on that.

  9. I dunno... Miss A said she saw worse near some dude in a tub, but I'm not about to ask for photographic evidence!!

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
