Little Update.

Here's a pic of Elfie as a Samurai warrior. He tried very hard to be pretty authentic about it, complete with making the sword sound effects found in his Civilization game. Patrick was kind to him and told him the closest he would ever get to being a Samurai would be "hari-kari." Thanks, Patrick, for encouraging your little brother. So Elfie figured out that ethnically, the most suitable thing he could be is a Teutonic Knight, but he thinks it would be too hard to learn German. I guess that's the only thing really stopping him, right?Girlie had a wonderful Christmas. Here she is playing with her dad in the snow. She loved the snow, but didn't want her dad to let go of her hand. That would be wrong. By the way, check out Rose's new sidebar pic and caption. I snapped that shot while she was climbing up the couch. Again. She loves playing with her new little people house, but her dad has taught her that the daddy character can do anything he wants. He stands on the tables and gets into all kinds of mischief, and there is nothing the mommy character can do about it. Sigh.

  1. Yeesh. Though I guess blood and guts are a guy thing.

I don't know how practical it is these days, but German is a fun language. It also means you can understand Yiddish (a German dialect) and Pennsylvania Duth (Amish).

  3. Um, you don't want hari kari. Trust me on this. Ditz says learning to *speak* German is easy. She had a little more trouble with written grammar.

Moving on...Ditz is sunburnt but I have heard you can get snowburn too? Looks like you had a fun Chruissy full of good things ~ like snow.

  4. Cute! For what it's worth, Patrick should have said "hara kiri", "hara" meaning stomach, and "kiri" to cut. There ends my Japanese lesson.

He makes a very cute samurai, but we wouldn't want him trying any of that icky stuff.

I am totally jealous of your snow. We are on our way out the door - going up north to see if we can find some of our own!

  8. Allison, I didn't know that!! They actually teach German at the high school here. :)

Chris, I'd be happy to trade weather...

Ganeida, it is too cold to stay out long enough to see. I think you would get frostbite before sunburn would happen, unless you're dressed really warmly.

Sue, have a glorious time at your cabin! I can't wait for pics; you never disappoint.

Shelly, I know, it's not right for her to grow up like that.

    Thank you, Tracy!

LOL Dianne, you would SO be the person to do that. Momma would rock. Here, the mommy character has the perfect job most of the time, but it comes with putting up with some of the daddy's idiosyncracies.

  9. We have a Little People House and Farm we bought second hand--best toys be every bought! The Daddy in out LP house has a cell phone in his hand all the time--just like our real Daddy. But he doesn't stand on tables. Very sweet pictures!!

PS--we wore our new (to us) pink swim suit today. I'll have to get pictures up tomorrow.

  10. The mommy character could go back to bed for the day and put the covers over her head!

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
