Girls With Short Hair

Here's Rose after I chopped a good five inches of hair off her head.  I think she looks very pretty with short hair.  Unless I let her hair grow out long, it's hard to take care of.  When it's long, it tends to fall out in patches.  So this is about the best I can do.

Hairstyle-wise, though, she's in good company.  This is a picture of my grandmother in 1917.  I couldn't quite bring myself to get that brave with the scissors.  It's an adorable look, though, especially with the gigantic bow.  Given the pictures of my Grandma Max fishing, riding horses and generally running all over the place, I don't think this was her "everyday look."

  1. Rose would be adorable no matter what her hair looked like. What a smart haircut!

  2. Roses hair looks good short, it is easier to look after and much much cooler.

    1. I have to brush it several times a day. Most of the time she's running about and it gets mussed. But the hairdo IS pretty cute.

  3. Rose looks very cute with her hair cut. Why does the longer hair fall out in patches? does she twist and pull at it?
I was never a frills and bows person, so I always thought those giant bows looked silly. In toddler photos of me I have a large bow in my hair, but not as large as your Grandma's. So big bows were still popular in the 50s.

    1. Rose has a problem with thin hair and ponies and that sort of thing make it worse. You should publish one of those cute photos of yourself as a toddler!

  4. Rose looks very cute with her haircut... but PLEASE DON'T CUT ANY MORE!!! I had a haircut like your Grandmother when I was young, my DAD used to cut my hair and my sister's too... JUST LIKE THAT. It was awful! We hated it, and got teased at school cos we looked like twits.

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
