Is it "Inciting Hatred" to Talk About Hell?

"If you think there is no God, you better be right!" with flames all around, on a billboard.  The police - the POLICE! - investigated and recorded that the church that sponsored this was inciting hatred

And the church apologized.  What wusses.  I mean, GOD FORBID someone says something that offends someone, or worst of all?  Is "homophobic" or "racist."  It doesn't matter if someone is actually physically threatening another person/group or not.  It's all in the accusation of the person with the hurt widdle feewings.

Does anyone remember in the 90's where everyone was afraid of being called a child molester?  And there were like, 500 million accusations flying around?  For a while there, it didn't matter what the truth was.  The accusation itself was so heinous that reputations were ruint.

Today, you can say no to making a birthday cake for an innocent little boy, but you can't direct a gay couple to the baker down the street because you don't want to celebrate their wedding.

Personally, I'd draw the line at making those anatomical-part shaped cakes for... I don't know what occasion.  But I support your right to say "no" to making cakes for little boys, gay people, red hat gatherings, whatever... and I support your right to tell me all about your religion on a billboard so long as threatening words like "Infidels must die!" are left off.

Yeesh.

  1. I hate that it's such a tip toe around day and age. Everyone is so afraid to offend someone. Wow, now that we are talking about this. I just wrote a blog about last year's horrible camping trip. (I'm only telling you this here because no one I know will see it.) I was told I had to remove that blog because it's offensive to the place I was speaking of. It was "shedding a bad light on them." I thought I had been super careful to not give away who it was. I decided to keep it up and really paid a price for it. I talked about it again today and I knoooooow what's coming. I'm a bit worried.

    1. You and your children deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. Maybe instead of worrying about their reputation, they should worry about their character. I wouldn't get defensive if I were you. Don't even answer how "offensive" this is. Tell them the Truth hurts and it if they don't like it, they can go do something anatomically impossible in a corner somewhere. You might as well. You will never be "Christian" enough for the likes of them anyway, so there is no point wasting one more watt of energy on these bozos. They're gonna think what they're gonna think.

  2. I was sooooo nervous writing the blog I wrote last night because it was really my old church. I know anger is coming. My husband said to not let them bully. I tried to be respectful in how I wrote it. Hopefully people will see my main point is about bullying. Not trash talking.

    1. Doesn't matter. Asking for your silence is just another way to victimise you again - as though what you went through wasn't important enough to be made public and dealt with fairly. Shushing you up in the name of "Christian harmony" just means shushing you up so they don't have to make changes. You weren't vindictive. So, that isn't what it is about. It is about meanies trying to keep their stuff a secret. Don't let them do it. Your blog is confronting it in a very loving manner.

    2. Thank you. I needed to hear it from an outside perspective. ;)

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
