Why bother to do the considerate thing and wait until your child is completely nit-free before shipping her off to school to share combs? Schools really need the state money and your kid? Works for the school.
I mean, you can go to school with lice eggs all over yourself. You don't feel sick with lice and lice can't jump, so it should be okie-dokie and all the other parents ought to be perfectly happy about it when your kid shows up with the cooties. It's not as though lice could, you know, hatch during the day and spread or anything. As long as the entire class of 30 exuberant kindergarteners somehow never touch each other during circle time, play time, lunch time or any other of a hundred activities they participate in daily, it's not a problem.
And really. How hard can that be?
I can't believe this is a real recommendation but apparently? Yeah.

Mine son was sent home from school with lice when he was 5 as he was vet blond they didn't show up and was always a wiggly worm so I didn't notice, this was my first experience with head lice after that I was very aware and my daughter had black hair so that was easier to check.

Oh no! I've never had lice, and neither have my kids. Knock wood, though, I hear they are VERY easy to catch.
DeleteNo lice here either, until my grandchildren, they lived in the hills and every autumn there was a lice epidemic in the primary school. Then my daughter found a way to keep the kids lice free. They've never had them since.
ReplyDeleteAs for keeping kindergarten kids from touching each other, even if that were possible, what about the clothes and hats in the "dress-ups" corner? one kid with lice or nits will wear a hat and the next kid to wear the hat will go home with unexpected visitors....
I know! And you can't give your girls a crew cut. :/
Deletenope. nope. nope. My kids would be pulled out until the lice epidemic was over... forget that.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that crazy!?
