Go Back Where You Came From.

By now you've seen the video of 200-odd people whipped up in some nutty frenzy, thinking that Donald Trump is gonna usher in some white Utopia for the "children of the sun" and all that.  Even more wacky than seeing 200 actual Americans popping up a Nazi salute is noticing that not all of 'em are white.

I mean, not to be racist in thinking someone doesn't belong somewhere because of their race, but... I think non-white people reallllly don't belong at Nazi type rallies because of their race?

Not that I get to decide these things?

Ok, crazy world.  Anyway, I'm hearing from some folks that non-white people are even being told to go back where they came from.  Maybe it's a really small number of people but it only takes one to really sour you on how you feel about your place in the world if you're already feeling anxious.

Personally, I find the idea of having to go back where I came from absolutely horrific.  That would mean moving to Cleveland!

Or if they mean "ethnically" where I came from I'd have to sprinkle about 35 percent of myself in Ireland and the rest all over Europe and some "less than one percent" will belong all the way over in Asia somewhere.  It would be sort of messy.

  1. it's all very well saying go back where you came from (I don't agree with that one bit), but what about families where the parents have come from somewhere else and the kids were born in the USA? Do they send the parents packing but tear the kids out of their mamas arms because they are US citizens.
The whole thing is completely crazy.

    1. Ahhh, you are taking this literally. What "go back where you came from" really is is a racist way of saying, you don't belong here, go to Africa or Mexico or whatever because you're not white or are not a real American. You know?

    2. Ok not that there is a "not racist" way of saying that. You get my point tho'.

    3. I did know that, I was just parroting something I'd heard somewhere :)

  2. I think Americans are going to be in conflict over MANY issues for a long time to come. This happens when a radical person comes into power I think?

    1. I don't think Trump is a radical. He's from New York, so he's loud and opinionated and half the time he doesn't know how to phrase even his good ideas so that they sound rational, but I don't know that he's that radical.

I do think his comments about Muslims and Mexicans may have "signaled" racists into thinking he's their man. I think they'll soon find that's not true and that really? Trump just likes to showboat. Hopefully he can dial it back a few notches when he takes office!!

    2. I'm from NY. That's no excuse to be the complete A$$ that he is being. Please don't blame us for that train-wreck.

    3. I've lived in NY and I can't blame anyone for the things he says sometimes. The whole "speak your mind" thing is very NY though. He just sort of takes it a little... further than most people I know.

    4. He takes it ever further than my craziest of crazy uncles... cuz he's nuts.

  3. Heh...good point about having to scatter yourself around the world to "go back to where you came from." I'd be in the same situation as you. A good part of me would end up in Scotland and Ireland. 25% of me would be sent to Thailand, and the rest would be scattered across Europe.

The racist stuff is crazy. I was reading an article by liberals the other day about how all whites are guilty in the election of Donald Trump. That was too much for me to swallow.

Blessings to you. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.

    1. See? You can tell nothing about a person by looking at them, really. Until I read your blog I had no idea that you were also "from" Thailand. That is so cool! Your sprinkles would cover more of the globe than mine. :)

  4. Well, no one has said it to me... but the reports are overwhelmingly frequent.

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
