Grades for each child go in the very front section. Next, I have my "log book" area. In it I keep a running tally at the top of each page of the required hours I've done "so far" to the state-required total of 1000 hours with 600 being "core" hours in Math, English, etc. Then once a month or so, I take some time out to think about where we're headed for the *next* month or so. Sometimes we get way more than I had planned, all finished. Other times, a peek back at my goals for the month will spur me into doing more work in a particular subject. The log book in the second page is pretty blank because the school year does not begin until July 1.
I like that idea. I just wish I could have enough patience to do that. Maybe this year I'll be able to do that with the two older kids.

ReplyDeleteYou might enjoy checking out if there are any stores for teachers in your location (if you wanted to get a lesson plan book, they are neatly divided into subjects and boxes, with plenty of easy pages to record grades, too).
But it looks to me like your content is a lot like my Grade 3 content in my lesson plan book.

ReplyDeleteI've looked at plenty of grade books and got ideas from them. Usually there are spaces for 25 kids and their grades (not useful for me) and costs over $10. I got this composition book at a back-to-school sale with my "teacher card" for 50 cents.

man, I have it easy. I just go log in online and it keeps track for me. They make it so simple for me. I go get the curriculums and everything. Of course I pick which ones and I can dictate how I teach it but I love the simplicity of it all.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to post a photo of the daily assignment pages I've come up with for my kids some time. We don't have to show them to anybody (thank God.. most days I don't get around to filling them in completely). In a way you have it so easy. I've been doing standardized test practise for my oldest (we'll test next week), and am getting together a portfolio of work for my special needs child. I don't need to show anything to the local school dept. for my kindergartner.. the fun starts in first grade in VA.
ReplyDeleteBy the way.. I purchased a grading book the first year I taught my oldest and thought how useless it was because of all the spaces for names. I think I came up with some convoluted way of organizing it to show different assignments - for my one student. I don't think I ever filled in even a quarter of it.
