The Boots.

Here is a picture of the boots. D made the bootstrap. He was really hoping for comments on his BOOTSTRAP. What do you think of them really? Later I'll have to show the little "gems" he put on my boots. They're really sharp.

  1. I have seen a lot of great leatherwork in my day ... and I would have to say that I would be willing to spend my hard earned money on these bootstraps. Do you sell them? I would spend almost the last money I had ... or I would borrow a huge amount of money from the taxpayer ... have a party first ... but then buy the bootstraps to help myself and stimulate the economy!

  2. Wow, who would have EVER thought I'd receive a comment from a NOT D person while D was typing...?

  3. I am kind of a jeans and t-shirt girl who is unadorned by bling. I am sure that someone who love leather boot straps would find these ones the epitome of artisanship. The leather work looks to be very well done. I think D needs to open an account on the Etsy shop.

You can teach all the kids the ins and outs of running a business. You can even teach them to use punches, knives, skiving tools. I am sure that this would qualify for dangerous things you should let your children do. You could study the history of leather. Measuring, calculating how much leather you need to make x number of bootstraps, calculating cost of supplies and profit would certainly qualify for math. English... you could have the kids write a description of each item for the etsy site.

What a great idea for a family project! I'm glad not D thought of it.

  4. I think the bootstraps and the matching bracelet are tight! How great that your husband is such a craftsman! Is he teaching the skills to the boys?

My dad's a biker and I bet he would love this stuff!

  5. I use the word "sharp" a lot! My friends roll their eyes; sharpness being a 1980s thing and all. My mother loves things to look sharp. Her new kitchen is quite 1980s sharp, with shiny black granite counters and a lipstick-red enamel sink.

My father collects cowboy boots. I think his patients make fun of him. My favorite pair is made from stingrays. Stingrays are covered in eyes, and the resulting leather is bluish-gray and polka-dotted. Very sharp.

I think D should hunt down a Bezazzler on eBay. I am sure the other cowboys would find him very sharp, indeed.

  8. Julie, now D is looking into Etsy. :]

    D for Daja LOL!!!

    C, as in Claire, thanks!!

Jungle Mom, D was happy to see your comment about his bootstraps being "chevere".

He's been looking at Etsy and thinking about it, but it looks like they want a cut of the money whether he gets paid or not. Well, he's thinking. It's a hobby for him, but he enjoys it a lot.

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
