Birthday Cake.

Girls are always sweet and demure. They eat their food neatly and pleasantly without mwwam *snort* mmm sounds or food-throwing. Elf and Emperor were given a box of cake mix, a dozen eggs, vegetable oil and a measuring cup and told to make the cake themselves. All I did was put it in the oven. D gave them a grade of only a B plus because the cake did not have an interesting shape. Rectangles, apparently, are not interesting enough. I think to get an A, the cake had to be multi-tiered and decorated in italic frosting script. We'll just take the B. :]

  3. Aw, how sweet of her brothers to make her very first birthday cake! The way you're teaching your kids to cook and sew is amazing - I suspect in a few years, you will sit down to a gourmet, multi-course meal every night, served on hand-sewn placements!

  4. Hey, if they can just feed themselves peanut butter sandwiches and mac and cheese and clean up after once a week, I'd be happy. I'm looking for reasonable self-sufficiency in this area. To me FOOD SAFETY is a biggie, the wash your hands and don't lick your fingers while cooking for others... that sort of thing.

D actually made leather placemats awhile ago. Apparently they're pretty pricey other places. :]

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
