All About Girlie

At last count, Rose can say 33 words. They include words like "sniff," as in, "sniff my feet so I can laugh at you." Or "ball," as in, "I am not happy with the food that is served. I want the cheese balls I see on the counter." The cutest word? "Nigh-nigh," as in, "I feel that it would be best for you to tuck me in to bed before I get out of control here." This has to be the world's only kid who consistently tells you when it's bedtime. When she gets up to her room? "Doll. Nigh-nigh. Shhh." Well, ok, then. Good night.

  1. I never had a kid like that! I've heard they exist, and now, here's proof! She is just so darling.

  3. Claire, I never would have believed it, either, or I'd have figured the parents were keeping the kid up to all hours till she crashed. But, no. Somewhere between 8 and 9 p.m., she will ask for "nigh-nigh," so we let her set her own bedtime. :]

Thanks, Casdok. She is teaching Woodjie a few things, too, which makes me very happy.

  4. She is adorable! A child that tells you it is bedtime. I had no idea there was such a thing. Can you send her over to teach my kids?

  11. I remember counting Pamela's words . . . I kept track of them in a spreadsheet . . . of course, she was SIX YEARS OLD!

I bet you love each and every one of those words!

  12. This picture is of a little girl with:
    * Hair and hair accessories in place
    * No devil-ish, I-am-up-to-something smirk on her face

And, she is asking to go to bed when she is tired?

Who is this girl? And, where is your real daughter?

    She is too cute!

  13. Lisa, she kinda does... :p

    Thank you, Bronwyn!

Miekie, left a short comment on your blog with my prayers. :]

    Thanks, Tracy!

LOL Bonnie, I didn't say she was organized, exactly... she does have the bedtime thing down, though. I almost hesitate to blog it because kids change from one day to the next...

DF, that is soooo cute. It's probably because when she was teeny your wife would, you know, have her glasses off in the dead of night, hoping she could get a little sleep?

Tammy, that's what we're doing on paper. I have a feeling she won't be receiving speech services much longer, and that's ok.

  14. Julie, did you notice this is also a girl eating cake for lunch? Easy to be agreeable when you get cake for lunch. Notice the bread is left in the bowl... :]

  15. I hope my kids like going to bed as much as I do. Sleep = good [smile].

  16. Well, if they're night owls, they'll be on the right schedule for a while because their days and nights are flipped around at present. :]

Still praying for you, friend. I don't think I've ever seen an adoption take quite this long. I can only imagine how discouraging this is! :[

  17. [Julie, did you notice this is also a girl eating cake for lunch?]

I thought that was a sandwich on white bread...

  18. Oh My! Look at those Curls.. She is certainly Adorable Mrs. C. I'm glad she's saying new words.. and looks like she is finally letting you put hair thingys in her hair!

I bet it's fun or should I say Nice to have a little girl to dress up after 5 boys in a row!

  19. Um, *cough* yeah, Julie... I meant to say "nutritious sandwich on white vitamin-enriched bread."

Yes, Shelly, she wants the little hair things in now. She's figured out it keeps hair out of her eyes. :]

  20. See, and you were worried about her vocabulary awhile back. Looks like she's catching on fast. She's about as old as my daughter and they say the same amount of words. I've never actually counted though! Haha.

  21. Oh my goodness! She looks so grown up!!! That cannot be the same little girlie. What a doll!

I've never had one announce bed time for me, but I do have one that likes to quietly crawl into MY bed and go to sleep when he decides he's too tired to wait for me to tuck him in. He's getting much to big to pick up and move, too!

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
