The Boxer Fracture.

A little lower, and he'd be in surgery getting pins and metal bits inserted into his hand. WHEN will this boy learn to stop punching cement walls and/or banging his head when he's mad/ upset/ excited/ happy/ whatever? "Yay," G said, "My first broken bone!" Yep, none of the other children has gotten one of these before, so he gets to be the *first.* Kewl. More kewl still? We need to see an orthopaedic surgeon to look over the x-rays and perhaps recast/ recommend surgery. Hopefully not the latter. I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun bringing all the younger children with him to this appointment. Well... here he's striking a pose for the blog. In response to my question, it is NOT supposed to resemble Mussolini.

  1. Mrs. C,
I'm so sorry! I don't know what to say other than I will keep praying for G and you.

  2. Oh no! What are we going to do with these boys who seem intent on hurting themselves.

I hope all goes well and he won't need surgery.

  3. Yow! This is what I'm afraid of with my boy. He's the type that likes to jump off things and thinks he is indestructible. Hope things go well with the surgeon.

  4. Silly Boy!
Our troublesome daughter Lacy punched too many concrete walls, parking meters etc and ended up breaking her hand in many places.. AND had surgery to fix it after the 3rd time! *sigh*
I hope G does not do that.

  5. Not kewl !!!

It sounds like he hasn't learnt this time either.

((hugs)) If it helps, Jock said he was always in fights as a child, but did grow out of it and in the 14 years of marriage he only physically broke something twice.

  7. I must come from a family of klutzes:

    * Broke my arm in the fourth grade roller skating.
    * Sister broke hers in the fourth grade leaping from one picnic table to another.
    * Daughter broke hers in the fourth grade pretending to skate on the wet bathroom floor.
    * Son broke his in the fourth grade roller blading and the other in the sixth grade roller blading.

I think I encourage my grandchildren to skip the fourth grade . . .

Praying for a speedy healing and regulated emotions . . .

  8. Oh no! I will pray that he doesn't need surgery. Isn't he in pain? He must have a pretty high pain threshold!

  10. Hopefully it's his first and last broken bone. Stuff like that drives parents nuts. My son broke his collar bone before he was even two. It was so sad seeing his arm dangle because the doctor thought a sling would mess with his balance. I hope your son's arm heals quickly.

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
