Proverbs 24:30-34

**************************************************
I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

Can you see what a little lack of housework can do to a place? I just had to post some of my fave pics of the messiest house we personally know about. The toilet is a recurring blog post here and shows up about every six months for your viewing pleasure.

  2. How delightfully fun. I wouldn't want to have to clean that mess up. But that is what our hearts look like. It just isn't so easy to see. :(

  3. please don't post that toilet picture again. that was just unsettling and gross.
i don't know how people could live like that.

  4. Really? You found the toilet more unsettling and gross than the first pic of a floor covered in grease, garbage and newspaper with BIRD DROPPINGS? At least the potty seat was wiped and you can hover... but when you lie down on a floor like that, and there were LITTLE CHILDREN in that house... I found that more disturbing.

OK that would be a fun game. What's the worst part of this house? Broken bottles? Holes in second story floor? Kitchen wall ENTIRELY MISSING and kids live there with tarp in the Missouri winter? Signs of parents' prescription drug abuse? What gets the prize?? ;]

It's actually a beautiful old house that has been abused to the point where it needs to be totally demolished until just the shell stands. Then they rebuild on the inside... it's historic, you know.

Actually, Patrick got to go digging there with his history class recently b/c the new owner allowed the school to go on an archaeological expedition on his property!

He is totally re-doing the place and all the old cars and stuff are gone.

  7. Ha! LOL! Okay, not funny, but I this makes me feel better! Okay, now I feel like I am not that bad. LOL. I just have to go straighten up and do my dishes.

I've known people like this before (but not that bad). Prescription drugs are such a trap. They think because it's prescribed by a doctor that it's okay to take. So sad.

  8. Yes, people WITH CHILDREN were living here and the eviction notice from the Sheriff's Office was still on the door when D took these photos.

People really do live like this. I have a lot more photos of this place that I posted last May or June. They're truly shocking. Oil spills and cobwebs that are HUGE, dust literally an inch thick... and I don't mean the "my goodness, the dust is an inch thick at my house" kind of dust. REAL inch-thick dust. And in the middle or neatly lined, a few child's playthings.

  9. Oh, and we saw the house three days after it was put on the market, about a week and a half after the people left. The Realtors' in charge of selling didn't bother to try cleaning because it's such a big job it's beyond that...

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
