Star-Spangled Tea

Back to Tea on Tuesdays with Lori! Our theme today is the Star-Spangled Banner. The boys are trying very hard to learn this, but some of the guesses they make at some of the words are interesting. We made hot dogs and star-spangled apple pie for lunch. American as it gets. We also read a comic book on Francis Scott Key.

  1. the pie looks amazing!!

the star spangled banner is a very difficult song to learn.

I fixed the link for the church in my RT post. It was too long and only connecting when it wanted to lol

  2. I should have come over for that pie....wow it looked really good. I bet it tasted even better. I still have to get the widget working....technical difficulty going on though.
Would love to know how you made the pie ;)

  3. Thanks, Dianne, I'll check it out soon!

Lori, it's just pie filling in a can between layers of instant pie mix. We did add the water and roll it out, though. Semi-homemade goodness LOL!

  4. Oh, and cookie-cuttered the stars on top. I thought of adding food dye in red and blue, but the babies were a bit fussy and I skipped that! No idea if it would cook well that way.

  6. What a beautiful pie! I am craving apple pie now.

I really need to do this with my kids, especially since we are doing American history this year. Living overseas, and with a Japanese husband, this stuff is all up to me!

    Thanks for the great idea.

  8. Your pie looks great. During the Olympics, my kids and I had discussions about The Star Spangled Banner and its roots since we heard it more times than we probably will until the next Olympics. They don't even play it in the schools anymore. Sad.

  9. Wow that is amazing. I really admire how you incorporate so much into your school lessons.

Monkette loves Tea time so I may have to give your link a try.

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
