Lord of the Rings

We've just finished reading Lord of the Rings. It took Elf about seven months, but we got through the trilogy in our nightly readings. Elf and Emperor are now memorizing the movie's famous speech of Aragorn before the Black Gate, embedded above. Too bad I don't know any Elvish, or perhaps the children would get some actual foreign language instruction. Only imagine the scholarships they could get with that talent. :)

  1. Yay! Great job!! I have very fond memories of reading (and reading, and reading) the Trilogy out loud to the kids while nursing Spanky as a newborn (maybe that explains his personality?!). Definitely worth the time it took - the nursing and the reading! :o)

I have friends who speak Elvish. I speak pig latin and spell in the military alphabet.

  4. There are people out there that speak fluent Elvish. lol Not a huge fan of these books. I think Tolkien needed a fierce editor with a good red pencil & a sharp pair of scissors. lol

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
