Lord of the Rings
We've just finished reading Lord of the Rings. It took Elf about seven months, but we got through the trilogy in our nightly readings. Elf and Emperor are now memorizing the movie's famous speech of Aragorn before the Black Gate, embedded above. Too bad I don't know any Elvish, or perhaps the children would get some actual foreign language instruction. Only imagine the scholarships they could get with that talent. :)

Yay! Great job!! I have very fond memories of reading (and reading, and reading) the Trilogy out loud to the kids while nursing Spanky as a newborn (maybe that explains his personality?!). Definitely worth the time it took - the nursing and the reading! :o)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THOSE BOOKS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have friends who speak Elvish. I speak pig latin and spell in the military alphabet.
Tango Tango Foxtrot November!
Looks like it could be worth as much as $500 for college.

There are people out there that speak fluent Elvish. lol Not a huge fan of these books. I think Tolkien needed a fierce editor with a good red pencil & a sharp pair of scissors. lol
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Those books are pretty long, right?
ReplyDeleteI still have not read or seen Lord of the Rings! I doubt I ever will now.
ReplyDeleteGlad your boys love it so much.
