Crazy Comment Monday!

Oh goody, it's back!  Today's crazy comment is um, pretty much this article and the entire comments section.  We all know that the shootings in Newtown are directly attributable to a "home school graduate."  Buncha wacko fundamentalist Bible-beaters who shouldn't be allowed to make choices for their kids, is what they are.  Although, hey!  The comment section reminds us that they're not all like that.  It should be ok for Pagans and Wiccans and stuff to homeschool because sometimes?  Homeschooling is about getting away from those religious nuts in public school.  Also?  Homeschooling is about segregation.  (Only think.  All the children in my homeschool are white.  So there's proof.)

  2. People will think what they think about homeschooling... Because the writer was HS from K-12 (probably before it was legal and fear of SW was more real than imagined) by parents who were motivated by a religious conviction a la RJ Rushdoony, everyone else is motivated by the same. The shooter's mom had her son in public school and only pulled him out to homeschool him AFTER an extended battle with the school to get services for her already "deeply disturbed" son. But the logical error of assigning the same motives to everyone means that homeschooling gets blamed rather than the deeply disturbed stuff...

I found it amusing how many of the commenters assigned bias to conservative bent news sources and aren't intellectually honest about the progressive bent of the Daily Kos... It is rather disingenuous.

    1. Why let facts get in the way of a great story, right? It sounds to me more like public school failure, if "schooling" has to come into it.

But see, despite my biases (and I have them), I don't think schooling needs to come into this.

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
