We're reading "Escape," a story of a missionary boy named Charlie from Ohio and his life in Ethiopia. Later on, of course, he'll need to "escape" Ethiopia, but right now, Charlie is in third grade and playing with old tires and balls of wadded-up newspaper encased with tape. We made one of our own from newspaper and masking tape. Wouldn't you know it went right in the bushes, just like any other ball? And outside, I hear the boys right now playing "hand soccer," which is socce
r in which you can only use your hands. I think it involves a lot of rolling around, stealing each other's shoes and throwing them so that the opponent cannot maintain possession of the ball.
