The Style. The Look.

Patrick loves these pants. Actually he has about six pairs of pants. They are all the same size, same brand, same colour. Seriously. His dad is the same way, but ol' Dad needs to buy new pants for work (same brand, same colour) when his old ones show signs of extreme wear. I got tired of Patrick putting mailing tape all over his pants at school and having people feel sorry for him. He must have come up with some odd story to tell his teachers that they would have sympathy for him and give him an entire roll of mailing tape AND a bit of masking tape so that he could make a smiley face on top of his knee.

I SWEAR I asked him if he would like some new pants and shirts before the beginning of the school year. He said no, reasoning (correctly!) that I would take the old and ratty ones and throw them in the trash. Well. He didn't quite phrase it that way, but still. As you can see, I at least don't want him walking about with gaping holes over the winter and patched these up as best I could. Who thinks Patrick should ask his mom for three new pairs of pants? I mean, Mom orders these things on the internet, just type in the same size as always and *zing* order complete. Would YOU go to school like this to save your mom $25?

  1. I have a pair of jean just like that. I don't wear them much anymore, but they are extremely comfortable.
I wouldn't wear them to school though or out shopping, certainly not to any appointments.

  4. Ron has pants like that... he wears them when he gardens. He has newer ones (same size, same style) that he wears to work with whatever the official shirt his company is using at the time. He wears his logo emblazoned company shirt all. day. long. Yep.

For Sunday, I bought him two pair of pants. He wears one. I bought him three shirts. He wears the one that is thread bare at the collar.

    I can relate.

  5. Grandpa is funny...I think that when I see $150 jeans on eBay that look like something in Ben's closet....full of holes and patches.

I have ACTUALLLY considered selling an old pair of Ben's ratty-tatties to see if they would go high. Just out of curiosity. Maybe our son's could get jobs as jeans-breaker-inners for the rich.

  6. I think they look cool actually.

Although I can't really say I think the packing taped ones would be awesome - how on earth could you even wash them without it ruining your machine?

  7. I wore Jeans like this in college... because I wanted it. When it got cold, I wore tights underneath... won't work for boys though... Go shopping for some neat patches at hobby lobby... and tell him that he can only wear them on Fridays... (his personal dress-down jeans. Make him mix it up so people don't think you need charity.

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
