Seven Feet Tall.

I'm standing, looking up a hill at this poison ivy. This is AFTER quite a bit of the bushiness that was coming over to my property was cut out by *me* (no rash yet). Danged if I'm reaching through the fence and pulling all the vines over to my side. You wouldn't think it, but the neighbours' poison ivy bush was over SEVEN feet tall before I started chopping it.

New Stuff!

Well, I looked into getting some fidgets at the Abilitations online store. But when I put a $6 item into my cart, I realized that shipping was something like another $7.50! Ferget it. About a week later, Patrick told me about a new store near the high school that sells lots of cool things... and I had to go see it... OK. I wasn't expecting to find some of the same things I saw in the catalog there. And plenty of cute Melissa and Doug items. I'm sure they got a fairly nice profit from me, but then again, I didn't have to pay shipping. Woodjie is attached to the stretchy monkey. I got all this stuff and another ball-fidget for about $30.

All. Day. Long.

Rose climbs up on the couch. Mom yells NO at the kid. Sometimes, this girl will even point back and say, "Dooooooowwwwn!" because she's all sassy like that. Then she'll jump. Then I will shout at her she will NOT NOT NOT do that again (good grief, she's gonna hurt herself if she falls wrong!) and she pouts. Repeat hundreds of times per day. Drives. Me. Nuts.

The Tin Woodman

Woodjie also does the cutest Munchkin dance you've ever seen, but he keeps posing for the camera during the movie, which ruins the effect. He can act out the every scene, but he does not want YOU to participate. Apparently that's against the rules. In other news, he can also count. "One, two, three, five, two-teen, two-teen, two-teen! Ah-ah-ah-ahhhh..."

Homeschooling. All Summer.

Emperor can tell you about subjects. Objects. Predicates. Interrogative, exclamatory, declarative and imperative sentences. But last week at church, he wanted to know what the "necklaces" on one woman's ears were called. Earrings, maybe? "Oh, yeah. I like your earrings."

Emperor Picks An Apple by Emperor

The apples are too sour. Whoever tasted a more sour apple? Hm. Who can say that? I have been tasting the sourest apple ever. I didn't like it, so I gave it to my brother G. G enjoys it. These were the worst ones I've ever tasted, not to be rude, though.

Elf Picks An Apple by Elf

I was waiting for this day for about a year. And I picked it finally! Although it tastes awful (because it's sour), it's better than nothing.

Happy Birthday, Elfie!

Here he is, playing with his new chess set and wearing his balloon "Indian" hat. He really enjoyed the story of Pocahantas, so today he is an Elf Indian.

Take a Picture, Dad!

Dad humours the kid a little more than I do. This little girl pulls out her hair bows and eats 'em. She gnaws on her hair. She sticks her feet in your face for piggies. She also laughs when the boys laugh at... bodily noises. Yes, I'm sure she's a girl, though. Must be the socialization.

We Love Emperor!

We've been studying the same spelling list for about two weeks. The same spelling list. Almost every day, we'd go over the spelling list. I hate the spelling list. Elf hates the spelling list. Emperor hates the spelling list. Emperor has had to put up with the spelling list because Elf keeps bombing the spelling list.

We just took a final test today and called it good. We're just done with this spelling list. Ever do that? Just say you're done. You can come back to it later... or not. You have other things to do... Well, that's my reasoning, anyway.

I had to cut Emperor's hair because it was a full inch and a half long and he hates being able to look UP and see hair! He keeps twirling it and making little scissor motions with his fingers... so I had to do it. I just knew what would happen if I didn't! He admitted to me after I was finished that he thought he'd get the scissors out soon.

So Elf is reading about Pocahantas while I'm cutting hair. I loved hearing this story about the brave young woman. She really did get a bad deal out of life. But in the story the writer is describing the "palefaces."

"Pail-faces?"

"Yes, you are pale... you know, you have no colour?"

"That is not true!" counters Emperor. "BLACK people have no colour. White is all the colours put together. So I have colour. Those people are wrong!"

Look out, world. Emperor is a young man "of colour." He'd make a crummy homeschool Klansman, I think. To hear some people tell it, we're trying pretty hard anyway, though.

Happenings at the House

Well...  I've absolutely neglected this blog. I kept meaning to get back to it but then what do you say. Sometimes I just peek at other...
