Seven Feet Tall.

I'm standing, looking up a hill at this poison ivy. This is AFTER quite a bit of the bushiness that was coming over to my property was cut out by *me* (no rash yet). Danged if I'm reaching through the fence and pulling all the vines over to my side. You wouldn't think it, but the neighbours' poison ivy bush was over SEVEN feet tall before I started chopping it.

  2. I know they bought the house several months after previous owners foreclosed. They are still in the process of fixing it so they can resell it.

I hope they do, and quick. I know they have a lot going on and the dumpster is in their front yard. Siiiigh.

  3. Hey I'm so glad you posted this. Heard about poison ivy forever, never seen it. It doesn't grow out here. Instead we have *sticky weed*, a type of vetch & it's invading from our neighbours yeard along with several other nasties I don't seem able to get rid of.

  4. Ganeida, take a look at the leaf clusters. "Leaves of three, leave them be."

  6. Did anyone get poison ivy?

I didn't know what it looked like - I was expecting it to look...I don't know, mean and menacing and poisonous.

  7. LOL Chris, DUH I should have thought of that!

Allison, I haven't gotten it yet. I hope I never do... have seen children with bad cases. I think poison ivy doesn't look menacing, so people just treat it like any other plant. And it grows FAST.

  8. A man's property is his empire ... his house his castle. I am not going to tell him what he can do with his property and in turn don't want to have that other person tell me what to do. As long as he is not causing a health problem to me (Like rats or toxic waste), I can live with it.

If you cannot figure it out, I hate homeowner associations!

  9. Hey--off the subject--but just wanted to say thanks for the comment. I always love your comments and your ability to always just say it like you see it. You would fit right in down here in the land of blunt-ness. America is so full of bullsh*t masquerading as tolerance or acceptance. Of course, I am not one to talk as I am ever polite and usually too afraid to tell like it is unless I am pushed on something that is crucial to my being (kids, husband...you know what I mean).

  10. D, I'm still tempted to buy Roundup and spray it. And their "castle" is depreciating my property values. Boarded-up windows and two different colour siding? Dumpster in the front yard? For months? Blehhh.

Bonnie, you're pretty bold on the blogs, but I can sorta tell you're the not-direct confrontation type. See, I'm wonderfully demure and tolerant in real life, just as I appear on the blogs. :]

  11. 7 ft. tall - WOW! We have lots of little plants that pop up here and there in the yard. I have to watch because one of the places Samuel likes to play seems to have them around. I'd get some Roundup on that fence.. just to keep it all out of your yard!

Bringing Garbage Home

Some people up the street were throwing this table away. It was in pretty bad shape and one of the legs was off. I've glued the leg back...
